How to Make an Instant Fortune on eBay - and Elsewhere - The Real Truth About Instant Wealth Revealed
You see it all the time, especially when you’re invited to buy business opportunity courses and eBooks, or licences for products to resell on eBay, and it’s usually a headline on a web site or the title of the product, sometimes it’s the subject line of an email promoting those products.
Often it’s the caption to a photograph and it goes something like this:
** This is Me With Just One of My ClickBank Cheques for $1 Million! **
When you read statements like that you’re prompted to get out your credit card and order right away, when by looking more closely at photographs and screenshots ‘proving’ those claims you’ll get a more accurate picture of how much money you’re likely to make, or how much money you’ll lose from buying the product.
But the big problem for most of us is this: that statement and others like it are usually true, if not also contrived, but definitely true. And because the advertiser has told no lies, you can’t exactly complain to the authorities when you lose money after someone shows you their ClickBank cheque for one million dollars, which you think has been earned in the last few weeks but actually hasn’t.
The reason you think it’s been earned in the last few weeks is because ClickBank typically pays every fourteen days for all sales made during a previous two week period. And because you want to believe the fourteen day miracle you’ll probably hand over two or three hundred dollars to discover how to make your own million dollar fortune by mid-August or sooner.
What you won’t be told is the cheque could represent several years of hard work selling ClickBank products from which the person in the picture has earned ‘just’ a few thousand dollars a month, ‘just’ indicating the amount is within anyone’s reach.
So how does the promoter confuse you into thinking they made a million in two short weeks? How did they get a cheque for that amount?
That’s easy, they set their ClickBank accounts to accumulate income and only pay out when a particular dollar amount has been reached, in ClickBank’s case the maximum being one million dollars.
Sadly the whole thing is totally legit, no one has told any lies, that cheque in the picture really is for one million dollars, even though it took ten years to earn it!
These people are playing on the fact the inexperienced entrepreneur is unlikely to know that, like numerous other affiliate companies, ClickBank, also Google AdSense, allow affiliates to decide when to take payment, usually to save money on banking fees when dollar amounts are paid into non-dollar bank accounts – or to con people into buying their products!
As an example, my UK bank charges eight pounds every time I put dollars into my account, regardless of whether I’m banking two dollars or two million! And that means if I pay in ten dollars, about £6.42, the bank gets eight dollars for converting my cheque to UK currency. And that’s one reason many marketers set their affiliate accounts to pay out much higher amounts for the same standard bank processing fee.
I’m telling you this because I’ve become a dab hand at sorting out genuine claims from downright lies and statements saying one thing and meaning something quite different. Like that one million pound cheque, for example, which you think represents two weeks’ work but actually took several years to accumulate.
Let me reveal more common claims aimed at selling courses and licenses which represent just half a story and can leave you very much out of pocket.
** Buy the Licence to Make These Widgets and Earn £2,000 from Every Ten Sales. **
In this case the licence entitles you to make a copy of the product concerned and sell it as many times as you like without paying fees or royalties of any kind to the product’s creator. It can work like a charm and you really can make a fortune from purchasing rights to make and promote products created by other people. But only if you have a sole licence or the licence is restricted to a number that makes the product unlikely to be heavily competitive.
So, if you buy the licence for £2000 and you earn £200 net profit per sale, you only have to sell ten units to break even and move into profit – just as the advertiser claimed!
Unless, of course, you are one of twenty or thirty people, or two hundred or two thousand others who bought the licence and are now making and selling the exact same products in the exact same marketplace. In our case on eBay!
Which of course means, the more people having the licence the more likely you will lose money promoting those products, even though the headline that forced you to buy the licence remains completely true.
** Make £40,000 in Just One Day! **
Here you’ll learn how to use that licence to make £40,000 selling the product to just 200 people and you’ll make that money in less than 24 hours! That is an entirely realistic promise and you really will make the money in less than 24 hours, in fact you could make it in just a few seconds. But you won’t be told how much work or how much time or how much planning you’ll put in before the clock starts ticking.
More likely you’ll spend a year, maybe two, growing a mailing list of likely prospects for your product and communicating with those people several times a week until finally they trust your judgement and some are willing to buy your product. When that time comes you highlight the sales letter in your autoresponder, press the button to send the email and it will take just a few seconds.
Then, lo and behold, within twenty four hours one or two of every 10,000 people on your two million strong mailing list will buy your product! And you will bank thousands of pounds, just as you were promised!
Have you ever tried building a list of two million people, do you know how long it takes, do you know how much it might cost to grow that list!
Don’t bother working it out because this is one time when you really will need a fortune to make a fortune!
